Welcome to Jeannine Achauer's Home Page
Because todays world is such a complex place, I try to give viewers of my work a chance to escape that hectic pace. We all need moments of calm, time to reflect. For me, I simply look to the beauty found throughout this great world of ours. It is here I find my inspiration. Art work has as many meanings as there are people to view it. Personally, I find it an emotional experience. That is what I attempt to capture on canvas. It is also the response I hope you will have as the viewer.
When working on an oil painting, I ask myself, does it “sing?” Is it in harmony? Are all the parts working together? Does it flow from one movement to another? Should every painting be a symphony? No. A lullaby or a simple folk song can evoke a tug at the heartstrings as much as a grand opera. They all have their place in the scheme of things on this earth. I strive to make my work “sing.”
As all artists know, sometimes this happens and sometimes it doesn’t, but when it does, a very rewarding experience is achieved by not only the artist but also the viewer.
Just as rewarding, is the learning process. An artist must observe the scene before him with regard to colors, lights and darks, sun and shadows, atmospheric effect and how it relates to everything. There is so much to learn, the process is never ending, but what a journey!
